Troubleshooting

Find the symptom, read what the app is telling you, try the fix. If it does not help, the last section says what to send to support.

Cannot sign in

The sheet saysWhat to do
Incorrect email or password.Check the address — it is the one of your Liminal account, not of a site you work with. Reset the password on the site if you are not sure of it.
Incorrect code. Try again. The code from the authenticator app changes every half a minute; check the clock of the phone. A backup code works as well.
Verify your email before signing in.Press Open Confirmation Page and enter the code from the letter.
No internet connection. Check your network and try again. The app cannot reach the network at all. A system VPN or a firewall may be in the way.
Liminal’s server is not responding. Try again in a minute.Look at the status page; if a service is down there, wait.
  • Use Browser never comes back. The app waits 30 minutes. Finish signing in on the site and agree to continue to the app when the page asks; if your browser blocked the hand-over, press the button on that page. Cancel returns to the form.
  • Asked to sign in again. A session lasts a limited time, and changing or resetting the password ends it on every device. Sign in; nothing is lost.

Tip. Contact Support on the sign-in sheet works without an account.

A profile does not open

The profile’s status is Failed and the window says The profile could not start. A profile refuses to open rather than open unprotected. The usual reasons, most likely first:

ReasonHow to tellFix
Its connection does not answerThe connection’s status is Failed; Health says the last proxy check failed.Check Connection. Replace the proxy or wait for it; a profile does not start through a dead one.
The proxy is SOCKS4The connection’s Type.Use the proxy as SOCKS5 or HTTP — see Proxies.
A VPN does not complete its handshakeThe connection’s status is Failed.Check the configuration with its provider; add the corrected one.
No connection, and direct connections are blockedHealth says a proxy is required.Assign a connection, or turn off Block direct connections in Settings › Connections.
Its saved account was changed or removedThe profile used to open with a saved account that had a login and password, and now has another account or none.Attach the same account again in Saved Accounts — see Saved accounts.

Pages do not load

  • A proxy error on every page. The proxy went down while the profile was running. The profile will not go around it. Check the connection; assign another one after closing the profile.
  • Nothing loads on a VPN. The tunnel is up but names do not resolve: the configuration has no working DNS line — see VPN.
  • Sites load, calls do not connect. The route carries no UDP, and UDP outside the route is blocked on purpose — see UDP and HTTP/3.
  • A page is blocked right after opening. A page is not loaded until the profile’s fingerprint is in place, and if that takes too long the page is blocked instead. Reload it; if it repeats, close and open the profile.

The location does not match

Health warns that the country of the fingerprint differs from the proxy’s, or the fingerprint sheet says Location doesn’t match the connection. Open the sheet and turn on Match Connection Location so that it stays right by itself; on Pro and Team Match fixes it once. If the country of a proxy is itself wrong, check the connection again.

A setting cannot be changed

What you seeWhy
The connection and the fingerprint are greyed outThe profile is running. Close Profile, change it, open it again.
Everything is view onlyYour role in this team is Viewer — see Roles.
Fingerprint fields are greyed out with a note about Pro and TeamEditing a fingerprint by hand is part of the paid plans — see Plans.
A template cannot be editedIt is Standard, which follows the app’s settings.

My profiles are not here

  • Another computer, Free plan. No Profiles on This Device: on Free the catalog stays on the computer where it was made.
  • Another workspace. Look at the picker at the top of the sidebar.
  • Another team. The same picker lists your teams when you have more than one.
  • A filter is on. The line under the table says how many filters are active; Reset clears them.
  • Sync has not run yet. Settings › Sync › Sync Now.

Sync does not work

Read the Status line in Settings › Sync:

  • It says sync needs Pro or Team. The plan is Free, or its paid term has ended — see Payment.
  • It says offline. The app has no network; it catches up when it does.
  • It names a failed request. Try Sync Now in a minute, and look at the status page.
  • It names a connection and asks to edit it. Two edits of that connection met; open it and save it again.

An import is refused

  • Proxies: a line is marked. No port, a broken address or an unknown type — see Formats. The message names the file and the line.
  • Proxies: the file is refused. It is larger than 2 MB, empty, or not a .txt, .csv or .conf.
  • VPN: the configuration is refused. It contains a key the app does not accept, such as a script — see VPN.
  • Accounts: nothing is recognised. Paste a login and password as key=value lines, or cookies as JSON, Netscape or Set-Cookie — see Cookies.

The Local API does not answer

SymptomFix
The connection is refusedThe API is off, or the app is not running. Settings › API & Automation › Local API.
The page says the port is in useAnother program has the port. Type another one or press Random free port.
401 invalid_keyThe key is wrong or was regenerated. A key can be copied only right after it is made — if you no longer have it, regenerate it.
403 not_signed_inNobody is signed in to the app.
409 profile_already_runningThe profile is open. Attach to it instead of starting it — see the reference.

Still stuck

Write to us from the app: account menu › Send Feedback…. Leave Include System Information on — it attaches the versions, your plan and the results of connection checks, and never passwords or cookies. See Getting help.

Checked against the released app: October 2026. If the app does something else than this page says, the page is wrong — write to [email protected]. What changed in each version is in the changelog.
