Install and sign in

Liminal is a desktop app for macOS and Windows. You download it from your account on the site, sign in once, and the app keeps you signed in.

Supported systems

SystemProcessorVersion
macOSApple SiliconmacOS 13 Ventura or newer
WindowsARM64Windows 11 or newer

There is no build for Intel Macs, for Windows on x64 processors or for Linux. Disk space, memory and what was measured are on the system requirements page.

Get an account

Liminal is in closed beta. Leave your email on the home page; when a place opens up you receive an invite code and create an account with it on the site. Signing up with the address the invite was sent to needs no confirmation; any other address is confirmed with a code from a letter, which works for 24 hours.

If a teammate invited you to their team, the link in that letter takes the place of an invite code.

Install

Sign in on the site and open the download page: it lists the released build for each system with its version and date.

macOS

  1. Download the build for macOS.
  2. Open the downloaded disk image and drag Liminal to the Applications folder.
  3. Open Liminal from Applications.

Windows

  1. Download the build for Windows.
  2. Run the downloaded installer.
  3. Open Liminal from the Start menu.

After that the app keeps itself current — see Updates.

The app starts with the Sign In to Liminal sheet over an empty window; the window stays locked until you sign in. There are two ways:

In the app
Type your Email and Password and press Sign In.
Use Browser
The sign-in page of the site opens in your usual browser. Sign in there and confirm that you want to continue to the app; the sheet reads Finish Signing In in Your Browser and updates by itself. It waits 30 minutes, and Cancel brings the form back.

No account yet? Create Account opens the sign-up page of the site. There is no sign-up form inside the app.

  • Two-factor code. If two-factor authentication is on, the sheet asks for it next: Enter Your Two-Factor Code. A code from your authenticator app works, and so does a backup code.
  • Unconfirmed email. Confirm Your Email appears with the button Open Confirmation Page. Confirm the address on the site and the app continues by itself; it keeps checking for 10 minutes.
  • Session ended. Now and then the app asks you to Sign In Again; your email is already filled in, and your profiles are where you left them.

Tip. Cannot get in? Contact Support on the sign-in sheet opens the feedback form without an account.

First-run setup

The first sign-in is followed by a short setup — the steps below for a new account of your own, fewer for someone invited into a team. Skip Setup leaves all of it for later, and nothing in it is final — every choice is also in the app’s settings.

Welcome to Liminal
An optional question about what you will use Liminal for.
Bring Your Work with You
Accounts with cookies can be imported here. Bringing profiles in from a regular browser or from another anti-detect browser is marked Coming later and does not work yet.
Connections
On Pro and Team each new profile gets a built-in proxy automatically; here you can also add your own proxies and VPN configurations.
Basics
Theme, App language and Launch at login.

Afterwards a Getting Started card sits above the main area with four things to try: Add a connection, Create your profiles, Open a profile and Check for leaks. Hide puts it away; it comes back from the account menu at the foot of the sidebar.

Language and theme

Open Settings from the account menu at the foot of the sidebar, then General.

App language
English, Русский or Use device setting. A change takes effect after a restart: press Restart, and the profiles that were open are opened again.
Theme
Use Device Setting, Light or Dark.
Launch at login
Start Liminal when you sign in to the computer. Shown on systems that support it.
Confirm before quitting
Ask before quitting — only while profiles are running.

Note. The app’s language is the language of Liminal’s own window. The language a profile reports to sites belongs to its fingerprint and is set in the template — see Fingerprint settings.

Sign out

Open the account menu at the foot of the sidebar and choose Sign Out, or go to Settings › Account. Running profiles are closed first. Signing out removes nothing: the profiles of this computer stay on it and are there when you sign in again.

Checked against the released app: October 2026. If the app does something else than this page says, the page is wrong — write to [email protected]. What changed in each version is in the changelog.
