Saved accounts
A saved account is a card for one login on one site — its credentials and its cookies — kept in Liminal and attached to the profile that works with it.
What a saved account is
Think of it as the account’s passport inside the app: a name, the site it belongs to, the login and password, the cookies of a signed-in session, and your notes. It is not your Liminal account, and it does nothing on the site by itself — it is what a profile is equipped with.
Accounts live on the Accounts page, per workspace. An account is used by one profile at a time: attach it to another profile and it leaves the first — read the warning below before you move one.
Add an account
- Open Accounts and press Add Account.
- Paste what you have into the New Account sheet — a login and password, cookies, or both — or pick a file with Choose File…. The fields below fill in as the text is recognised.
- Check the Name and the Platform, then press Add.
A login is recognised as lines of key=value:
[email protected]
password=<password>
url=https://shop.example.comCookies are recognised in three formats — see Cookies. When the cookies belong to Google or Facebook, the platform is set for you. One sheet adds one account.
Tip. From a profile, use Profile Settings › Import Account: the sheet gets the button Add and Apply, which saves the account and attaches it to that profile in one step.
The account’s card
Choose Open in an account’s menu to see and edit it.
- General
- Name, Platform and Status — Active, Paused or Blocked. The status is your own label; the app does not set it.
- Sign-in
- Login, Password, Two-factor code and Recovery email.
- Session
- How many Cookies are stored, when they expire, and when the account’s profile was last opened.
- Used By
- The profile the account is attached to, and that profile’s connection.
- Notes
- Free text.
The table shows the same at a glance. Its Session column tells you whether an account is ready to use: Cookies stored, No cookies or Cookies expired.
Attach to a profile
Select the profile and choose the account in Profile Settings › Account › Saved Accounts. No Account detaches it.
What happens when the profile opens
When a profile opens for the first time after an account is attached to it — and again after the account’s card is changed — before the first page loads:
- The cookies are put into the profile. The profile opens signed in wherever those cookies are still valid. If the profile carried cookies of a previously attached account, those are removed first.
- A login and password that came with the import are saved into the profile’s password manager for the account’s site, so the browser can offer them on the sign-in form. A login typed or changed in the card afterwards stays in the card only. Liminal does not type them or submit any form for you.
Important. A profile that has opened with an account’s login and password is tied to that account. Detach the account or attach another one, and the profile no longer opens: the app will not leave one account’s saved password in a profile that now belongs to another. Attach the same account again to open it — and when you give an account to another profile, expect the first one to stay closed.
The app does not sign in to sites, does not refresh cookies on the site’s side and does not copy new cookies back to the card: the card keeps what you imported.
Export and delete
Export writes a list of the selected accounts as JSON: names, platforms, statuses, how many cookies and for which domains. It contains no cookie values, logins or passwords — it is an inventory, not a backup.
Delete… removes the card and detaches it from its profile. The app shows which profiles use the accounts before it deletes them.
On other computers
On Pro and Team, saved accounts and their cookies travel with cloud sync, unless you turn Accounts off there. Cookie values are encrypted before they are stored on the server — see Where your data lives.
